LinkStar is a two-way VSAT Satellite Internet service which uses the ViaSat platform.  The LinkStar system, with the exception of the modem, uses universal 1.0m, 1.2m, 1.8m, and 2.4m satellite dish VSAT components as found in many other VSAT systems and service providers including iDirect.

LinkStar is the best value on the market if you are looking for something just a step above the typical WildBlue and HughesNet systems used in residential and small business applications.  LinkStar offers monthly service plans from just $69.99 per month for 256k down x 128k up, all the way up to $549.99 per month for 4096k down x 512k up.  Althouth our most popular residential, small-office plan in the LinkStar platform is $199.99 per month for 1.5m down x 256k up, there is room on both sides of that plan to select the plan that's right for you.  If you are looking for dedicated bandwidth for VOIP, the LinkStar "Enterprise" plans offer an, even lower, contention ration, with the optional CIR (committed information rate) upgrade, provides for a higher quality VOIP performance.

LinkStar offers a broader FAP (Fair Access Policy) than the WildBlue and HughesNet systems, and LinkStar supports VOIP, VPN and other "bandwidth intensive" applications better than HughesNet and WildBlue.   This is basically due to the "contention ratios" of the systems... i.e. the number of users trying to access the satellite through the same size "pipeline."  For example... rumor has it that HughesNet services are 400:1, meaning there can be up to 400 other customers trying to connect to the Internet over the same "pipeline," while the LinkStar services only allow 25% - 50% as many users per "pipeline" which allows the system to maintain better speeds and handle the VOIP, VPN and other "bandwidth intensive" applications better than the HughesNet and WildBlue systems and services.

The next step above LinkStar (in our opinion) would be iDirect, and iDirect offers even lower "contention ratios" which typically result in much higher monthly service plan pricing, however... if you ever outgrow your LinkStar system, you can simply purchase an iDirect modem, sign up for iDirect service, possibly re-point your satellite dish, and be done.  No more large new equipment investments.   These universal VSAT systems maintain their value better than other systems on the market as well as they can be used with a variety of VSAT service providers Worldwide.
